South West Warning, Advice and Reporting Point

Home

Welcome to the South West Local Government Warning, Advice & Reporting Point (SWWARP) website. The SWWARP is a community of Local Authorities who take part in regular meetings and share eachother's experiences in fields such as Information Assurance, Emergency planning, and policy compliance.

Serious About Security

The strength of any WARP lies in the willingness of its members to share knowledge and experience. Trust between members is key to allowing this. Many of our members are Chief Information Officers or Heads of IT, who have reached a position where they have no peers in their organisation to turn to for advice. Members hold regular meetings about topical issues, and are encouraged to report incidents (it is possible to keep incident reports annomous). WARPs are facilitated by a WARP manager, and are run by their members, for their members. As such, a WARP can expand into any avenue its members need it to. It is for these reasons that WARPs have been shown to reduce the cost of good security

If you would like to join the South West WARP, please feel free to contact us, or to find a WARP near you, please visit www.nlawarp.gov.uk
